Als die letzten Klänge des Nighttime Spectaculars "Wishes" am Ende der Sommer-Saison 2005 noch nicht richtig verklungen waren, begann es bereits in der Gerüchteküche kräftig zu kochen. Zahlreiche Quellen liesen wissen, dass die "Feuerwerks-/Laser"-Show 2006 aus Kostengründen und / oder der negativen Reaktion der Fans nicht wiederkehren würde. Jetzt, sechs Monate später, wissen wir noch immer nicht mehr und die Gerüchteküche kocht über. Sollte das Management bereits eine Entscheidung getroffen haben, so wurde sie jedenfalls noch nicht offiziell bekanntgegeben. Den aktuellen Stand der Gerüchte hat jetzt Kris im Mousekingdom Blog zusammengefasst.
Wie auch immer die entgültigte Entscheidung aussehen wird, sicher kann man sagen, dass sie tatsächlich bis zuletzt noch unsicher war. Das würde jedenfalls auch erklären, wieso man beim Abbau der Bühne auf der Central Plaza nach dem Ende der Weihnachts-Saison die Tore rund um das Zentrum des Platzes nicht entfernt hat. 2005 war man genauso vorgegangen, um die Tore später zu nutzen, damit keine Gäste während der Show auf das "Wishes"-Display kletterten oder vor die Laser und Projektoren gelangen konnten.
Bis wir erfahren, was nun diesen Sommer geschieht bzw. nicht geschieht, kann man nun immerhin die Central Plaza wieder so erleben, wie sie von den Imagineers gedacht war - mit einem dezenten Blumenbett im Zentrum und als ideal Element für Photos des Schlosses statt einer Bühnenkonstruktion.

When the last performance of the nighttime spectacular "Wishes" had finished at the end of the summer season 2005 the rumor mill went into overdrive with numerous sources stating that the "fireworks/laser"-show would not return due to cost reasons and / or the negative reaction of fans. Now, nearly six months after that, we are still standing at the same point. Even so more and more sources seem to indicate that management has decided not to bring "Wishes" back, no official word has been released. The latest overview of the output of the rumor mill has been summed up by Kris on the Mousekingdom Blog.
Whatever the official decision in the end will be, it looks as if it really has been a last minute decision. At least that would explain why they decided to keep the gates in place around the central area of the Central Plaza when they took down the Christmas stage. The same was done last year when the gates were used again in the summer to close of the area around the "Wishes"-mural during the spectacular to prevent guests from climbing on the mural structure and getting in front of the lasers and projectors.
Till we learn the fate of "Wishes" though let's all enjoy the beautiful view across Central Plaza once again as the Imagineers originally envisioned it - with a beautiful, decent flower bed as the center and perfect element in photos of the castle instead of some stage.
