When Walt Disney created Disneyland he wanted to have the opportunity to tell his stories in three dimensions. He was able to build the sets for his stories - but a certain element was missing: characters.
The hard times for fans are here - after the initial phase of the construction which seemed super fast, visible progress of the two major construction projects in the Walt Disney Studios has slowed down and things seem to crawl along only at best. But impressions can be wrong!
Take the Tower of Terror, now that the ToT has topped out and even the motor units put in place, it seems as if nothing is happening anymore. The roof is still not up on the Tower and it still sits there as a bland concrete structure. But a close look to the future entrance / lobby building reveals some progress, even so the steel structure of the small turret still sits there unchanged. But behind it a new wall is rising up adding a third floor (if ground level is counted as one as well) to the main hall.
Just a few meters down the parade route the Toon Studios are also only making progress at what seems like crawling pace. Since the tracks of the main coaster section has been finished, one a first glimpse there seems to be no visible progress (as a comparison of the coaster section in latest photo here and and the one in the news from just two days ago shows) - even so workers are busy all over the place. But: currently the main work is centered around the concrete structure for the entrance / queue line area and the dark ride section. But as of yet no track has been installed here, since still basical ground structures need to be finished. As a side note the photo clearly shows where the track will run from the end of the coaster section. Also interesting to see is how low the coaster actually sits compared to the rest of the WDS. All other attractions of the studios sit on one elevation, which is roughly the same as the groundlevel seen to the far left of the picture. It seems the station and the dark ride section will sit at a comparable low elevation. In the end this should result in a greatly reduced height of the soundstages making the buildings look less dominant and especially preventing them from dominating over the top of the sorcerer's head of Disney's Art of Animation.

Die harten Zeiten für Fans sind angebrochen - nach einer ersten Phase des extrem schnellen, sichtbaren Baufortschritts tut sich jetzt bei beiden großen Projekten in den Walt Disney Studios scheinbar kaum noch etwas und alles geschieht im Schneckentempo. Doch der Eindruck täuscht.
Nehmen wir zum Beispiel den Tower of Terror. Ja, seit er seine Maximalhöhe erhalten hat und die Motoren installiert wurden, ist scheinbar so gut wie nichts mehr geschehen. Das Dach fehlt noch immer und auch der Beton ist noch nicht verkleidet. Ein genauerer Blick auf das Eingangsgebäude zeigt aber, dass hinter dem Stahlgestell für einen kleinen Turm am Eingang eine neue Betonwand emporwächst, die der Haupthalle ein drittes Stockwerk (das Erdgeschoss mitgezählt) beschehrt.
Auch wenige Meter weiter in den Toon Studios ist der langsame aber stetige Fortschritt nur bei genauem Hinsehen zu erkennen. Ja, der Achterbahn-Abschnitt der Strecke ist installiert und hat sich seit dem letzten Photo in der News von vor zwei Tagen nicht mehr verändert. Aber dennoch sind die Arbeiter noch immer kräftig am werkeln? Woran? Zur Zeit an den Betongrundlagen für den Eingangsbereich und vorallem den Darkride-Abschnitt. Bis hier die Fundamente inklusive der unteren Abschnitte der Wände stehen, kann auch noch kein Track installiert werden. 
Der Fortschritt hier ist gut im Photo zu erkennen, das im übrigen auch gut zeigt, wie die Schienen nach dem Ende des Achterbahn-Abschnitts verlaufen werden. Interessant ist auch, wie tief die Achterbahn sitzen wird im Vergleich zu den übrigen WDS. Alle anderen Attraktionen der Studios befinden sich mehr oder weniger auf einem Basislevel, der ungefähr auf der Höhe des Bodens am linken, äußersten Bildrand liegt. Scheinbar werden auch die Station des Turtle Twister und sein Darkride-Abschnitt tiefer positioniert. Im Ergebnis sollte das dazu führen, dass die notwendigen Gebäude nicht so hoch wie sonst nötig werden müssen, damit nicht so dominant wirken und insbesondere nicht den Zauberer Hut an Disney's Art of Animation völlig in den Schatten stellen.
