Turns out this weekend the milestones toward the official opening of Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast are falling one by one. First on Friday the construction walls were taken down allowing guests a close up view of the complete entrance area, the outdoor queue (unfortunately mostly unthemed zig-zag as already found at the rides in the WDS), the new attraction specific mural that replaced the Visionarium-mural and the new on-ride photo sales counter that has been placed next to Constellations "blocking" the former exit doors of the Visionarium.
The next milestone came, when cast members were invited to test the new ride yesterday. So far everything according to the plan - but then today guests and fans alike where surprised when the park opened the ride for all guests in the park as part of a so called "soft opening" around 11.30 am. The queue line filled up rather fast, but according to first reports waiting times did seldom exceed 60 minutes - thanks to the high-capacity omnimover-system of the ride. Mind you, FastPass was not yet operational. Guest reactions seem to have been great to the soft opening, but don't count on it to be repeated daily.

Dieses Wochenende gibt es zahlreiche neue Entwicklungen auf dem Weg zur offiziellen Eröffnung von Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast zu melden. Erst wurden am Freitag die Bauzäune entfernt, so dass ein genauer Blick auf den Eingangsbereich, die Wartezone im Freien (leider ein größtenteils kaum gestalteter Zig-Zag-Kurs wie in den WDS) sowie den neuen On-Ride-Photo-Counter möglich wurde. Letzterer sitzt übrigens direkt vor den ehemaligen Ausgängen des Visionariums. Außerdem wurden am Freitag die Cast Member eingeladen, die neue Attraktion zu testen. Soweit alles eigentlich wie erwartet...
Heute aber kam die große Überraschung - ab ca. 11.30 konnten alle Gäste die Attraktion testen im Rahmen eines sogenannten "Soft Opening"! Der Wartebereich füllte sich schnell, doch dank der hohen Kapazität des Omnimover-Systems lag die Wartezeit selten über 60 Minuten. Allerdings war das FastPass-System noch nicht aktiviert. Die Reaktionen der Gäste auf das Soft Opening waren äußerst positiv, dennoch sollte man nicht mit einer täglichen Wiederholung rechnen. Mehr Photos gewünscht?
