Die Manchester United Football School im Resort wird jetzt im zweiten Jahr betrieben - der Erfolg hält sich aber noch in Grenzen. Die momentanen Lösungsansätze: mehr Werbung und eine Ausweitung der potentiellen Gästebasis. Zahlreiche große Poster für die Fußball-Schule sind im Disney Village aufgetaucht, in den internationalen DLRP Broschüren wird das Angebot prominent vorgestellt. Flyer in den Disney Hotels und an den Informationsständen sollen außerdem helfen, das Angebot bekannt zu machen, das leicht übersehen wird. Auf Grund seiner Lage an der Marina (einer kleinen Erweiterung des Lake Disney zwischen Disney's Sequoia Lodge und Disney's Newport Bay Club) befindet sich die Schule weit ab der üblichen Wege der Gäste, die leicht ihren Urlaub im Resort verbringen können, ohne je das Areal zu sehen - entsprechend wird niemand von der Action auf dem Rasen angelockt, auch da die Marina keine anderen Angebote beheimatet, die Gäste anlocken könnten.
Aber es gibt noch einen anderen Ansatz der Schule mehr Gäste und damit die für jede der (halbtägigen) Unterrichtseinheit notwendigen 12 Teilnehmer zu gewinnen: die Erweiterung der potentiellen Gäste-Basis. Wie? Seit diesem Frühjahr dürfen auch Erwachsene an den Programmen teilnehmen. Die Kosten? Wie für die Jugendlichen: €25,-. Vorherige Reservierung ist empfohlen, da die Kurse abgesagt werden, wenn nicht genügend Teilnehmer gemeldet sind. Prominent positioning in the international DLRP brochures and flyers in the Disney Hotel rooms and different information points are supposed to promote the offer better, which is easily missed. Located at the Marina (an extension of Lake Disney between Disney's Seqoia Lodge and Disney's Newport Bay Club) it is off the beaten track and guests staying in the Resort can easily manage to spend their whole trip without ever seeing the area - so noone gets attracted by the action taking place, especially as the Marina does not offer any other diversion that might attract guests.
But there is one measure of the school to attract more attention and the 12 guests necessary for each of its (half day) classes. The other: widening the guest base. How you do that? Since this spring the school is also allowing adults to join the fun. The cost? The same as for kids: €25,-.
