Halfway through the first week of the test of the "Demand Based Hours" for the Disneyland Park it is time for another update. Theoretically guests should have enjoyed varying operating hours in the Disneyland Parks in the last days based on the different levels of attendance as reported earlier. To avoid any disappointments the park officially lists the shortest possible (= guaranteed) operating hours that have been decided upon in advance for each day of the test period seperately on the fliers handed out together with the park maps.
But how did the test fare so far? How did the guests react? They did not - at least not to the core concept of the test, the flexible operating hours, since the park on each day so far stuck to the pre-announced, short operating hours. In other words: the treshold of 21,000 guests for the first level of extended operating hours (which equals the old standard opening hours) has not been reached yet. In fact to say it in the words of MickeyFantasmic who visited the park Tuesday afternoon: "at 1.10 pm you could shoot a cannon ball down Main Street, U.S.A., straight through Sleeping Beauty Castle and into Fantasyland without hitting anybody". So far the only thing guest reaction too may have been tested is the early closing at 6.00 pm - and based on fan reactions in the forum this one isn't going down so well...

Nach Abschluss der Hälfte der ersten Woche in der Testphase für die "Demand Based Hours" im Disneyland Park ist es Zeit für ein Update. Theoretisch hätten Gäste in der Zwischenzeit variierende Öffnungszeiten erleben sollen, abhängig von den Besuchszahlen, wie bereits berichtet. Um dabei Enttäuschungen zu vermeiden, hat das Resort auf den offiziellen Flyern jeweils die vorab für jeden Tag bestimmten kürzesten (= garantierten) Öffnungszeiten veröffentlicht.
Aber wie sind die Tests nun verlaufen? Wie haben die Gäste reagiert? Nun sie haben nicht reagiert - jedenfalls nicht zum eigentlichen Gegenstand des Tests, den flexiblen Öffnungszeiten, denn bisher hat der Park sich strikt an die angekündigten Minimalöffnungszeiten gehalten. In anderen Worten: die Grenze von 21.000 Gästen für die erste Verlängerungsstufe (die den alten Standard-Öffnungszeiten entspricht) wurde noch nicht erreicht. MickeyFantasmic, der am Dienstag Mittag den Park besuchte, formuliert das so: "um 13.10 Uhr hätte man eine Kanonenkugel die Main Street, U.S.A., hinunter durch das Dornrösschen Schloß bis in das Fantasyland schießen können, ohne jemanden zu treffen". Getestet ist also bisher nur die Reaktion der Gäste auf die frühe Schließung des Parks um 18.00 Uhr - und ausgehend von Fan-Reaktionen im Forum ist das nicht sonderlich beliebt...
